Five Presidency Candidates from Golkar

with one comment

Jusuf Kalla, vice president of Indonesia.

Image via Wikipedia

I believe that this is a good news. Some senior politician from Golkar few days ago informally announced its presidency candidates for 2014 election. The five potential presidency candidates from Golkar  are Jusuf Kalla, Agung Laksono, Akbar Tandjung, Aburizal Bakrie, and Fadel Muhammad. I know, they all are potential elites from Golkar. Sources said that the official candidate will be announced based on Golkar’s internal survey. But I believe that Jusuf Kalla, is the best choice. Jusuf Kalla still have the best reputation as Golkar’s elites. Compared to Aburizal Bakrie, I believe that Indonesian generally prefer Jusuf Kalla to be the next president. Aburizal Bakrie, have Lapindo and many political obstacle that will be exploited by his political opponent. So, I bet that Jusuf Kalla will be the next official presidency candidate from Golkar. And I bet that he will win the 2014 contestation.

Rakornas Demokrat

leave a comment »

Today is an important day for Partai Demokrat (Democratic Party) because they organized a national meeting. The meeting is intended to reconsolidate the party members to support Anas Urbaningrum as the chairman. Recently, Anas Urbaningrum had accused by Nazarudin on money politics case. The issue lead a public concern about Party’s reputation. It also lead Party’s elite concern about Special Meeting to step down Anas Urbaningrum as party’s chairman. But I think, there two possible result of the Rakornas. First, the national meeting succeed to reconsolidate the party members to support Anas Urbaningrum. Second, the national meeting succeed to reconsolidate the party members to force Anas Urbaningrum step down from his chairman position. Just wait what will be the best result.

Will Indonesian Clerics Forbid Naughty Songs?

leave a comment »

I believe that Majelis Ulama Indonesia, an Indonesian clerics club, is the most productive. They have released various proscription fatwa on various issues that in on the public discourse and trending topics. Yesterday, they released proscription on subsidized gasoline usage. This is a funny proscription since they are seems to manipulate Islamic Law to flirt the government that is on struggle to manage energy deficit. Today, I read an article on the urgency of proscription fatwa for Naughty Songs. I am a kind of optimist. I believe that MUI will effectively response such demand when the discourse is hot and in the trending topics radar. So, just wait another funny proscription fatwa.

NY becomes 6th US state to legalize gay marriage

with 2 comments

Finally, New York becomes 6th US state to legalize gay marriage. I think this is a historical moment for New Yorker. the hardwork fo activist, poltician and the society have already paid. This maybe a starting point to such a global movement of same sex marriage acceptance. I mean, I am waiting the same policy born in Indonesia and another country for the shake of humanity.

After days of contentious negotiations and last-minute reversals by two Republican senators, New York became the sixth and largest state in the U.S. to legalize gay marriage, breathing life into the national gay rights movement that had stalled over a nearly identical bill here two years ago.

Ruyati is Beheaded by Arabian

with 3 comments

This is a draconian law, an ancient law that emerged when human right was not recognized yet. And this is interesting, Saudi Arabia and many countries still conserve such draconian law that legitimize Ruyati execution. The most horrible, Saudi Arabian Authorities beheaded Ruyati. It means, they cut Ruyati’s head, they killed Ruyati. Ruyati is just an informal worker. She maybe a hard worker. She works 24 hours to serve her Arabian master. Unfortunately, her Arabian master is a psychopath just like other Arabian, that always torture their maid.

As South China Sea dispute escalate, there is demand for Indonesia to do something. Currently Indonesia is the ASEAN leader. Indonesia is the only G-20 member in the region. Meanwhile there are also a rise of global recognition on Indonesian economic and democratic development. Therefore I think Indonesia have to do something to develop a peace process for the countries that involved on the dispute. The question, what should Indonesia do?
